Way to go, Episcopal Church. Way to make us look even more scattered and secular. Way to cheapen our already tainted image and to further the notion that we are a wordly, spiritually vapid church. Way to promote pagan and non-Christian ideals under the guise of those Holies of Holies, "diversity," "tolerance," and "acceptance."
I am definitely switching to Catholicism.

On a slightly different note, here is one Catholic looking at conversions to Islam...

the small but growing conversion of native Westerners within Western societies to Islam carries the suggestion that Islam may provide in the 21st century the attraction that communism provided in the 20th, both for those who are alienated or embittered on the one hand, and for those who seek order or justice on the other. This is from Cardinal Pell, the Archbishop of Sydney. Perhaps because it has been around so long, the Catholic Church can take the long view?

I agree with you that your example of the Episcopal Druids gives the Church a black eye, but that's the kind of blow the media loves to land on ECUSA. They treat the Episcopal Church like they treat conservatives, which is strange when you consider how little overlap there is between those two subsets. Perhaps, though I just pointed out one area of convergence: media punching bags.

OTOH, an Episcopal priest who serves our church sometimes is excited about a possible renaissance in the church school, one which would serve the poor. Evidently, the Episcopal school movement was very vibrant in its time, and probably helped foster the emergence of public schools. This priest says that they're able to more easily reach poor Hispanic neighborhoods in Austin via schools. He says the Black community is less interested, but they're working on it.
